The fishing wharf was very familiar from last year but Monday brought a very early start At 5 ish were aware of a boat coming in, then the to-ing and fro- ing of fork lift trucks loading into big containers.
When we finally appeared on deck we were given 4 crabs for “having been woken so early”. Snow crabs we think.
Set off with rucksacks and walking boots to the automotive store. Bought the 10 litres of replacement oil and before we’d even paid, were offered a lift back to the boat. A was dropped off at the grocery store to buy bread for our crab feast. Our lift hadn’t even finished buying his things but insisted he had plenty of time and would go back. Such a kind chap.
Bilges clean, optimum oil level restored, crabs in the fridge, the fog had lifted, the sun had appeared, it was a good time to leave for Fogo Island.
