On Saturday, early start to do the laundry, get the boat ready and fill up with water. A in the doghouse again- managed to drop the hose connector to the water filter into the water. Despite lightening quick reactions, dropping flat onto the pontoon, unable to retrieve it, it sank far too quickly.
Checked out of the marina and anchored once again in the bay next door. F and C went exploring in the dinghy.
A disturbed night, rocking and rolling but up at 5 am to sail the 50 miles to Sǎo Miguel, the only foreseeable day with enough wind to actually sail.
The morning sky was beautiful.
No wild life spotted the entire day, sailed well for 7 hours then resorted to the engine.
Anchored off Vila Franca do Campo, the original capital of the island until the destruction in 1522 when a massive earthquake and landslide killed 5000 people. The administrative centre then moved to Ponta Delgada.
