Wednesday was glorious. Blue skies and sunshine, flatter seas but winds strong enough to allow for good progress.
A ‘s watch uneventful, enjoyed a clear starlit sky and the orange moonrise. Towards the end the wind started to get up, the seas built significantly and F had to reef the sails again. A timed that well!
Thursday was very rolly but a fast sail. Has become apparent that neither tarp tape nor sail tape were up to the job of fixing the oilskins. F even found some discarded tape in his boots. He takes a regular drenching whenever he has to go forward on deck with waves breaking over him, but he is tethered! He’s had to resort to the cheap non breathable spare ones!
The dew, too, is so heavy that the oilskins are soaked after a night watch of just being in the cockpit. Constantly trying to dry them out.
