A busy few days

A mad few days of extreme temperatures, ranging from frost advisories to 25 degrees. One day shorts, next full thermals again due to bitter winds.
Not only have we had to move the boat a couple of times for protection from the wind and due to pontoons not being securely fixed(!)but our Airbnb came to an end and we had to move ourselves too, this time to Chester, a lovely old village of clapboard houses. This one is more upmarket but also more expensive and no cooking facilities. Oh dear, we just have to eat out.
Two top coats on the arch completed and more work on the electronics. Dinghy back hanging on its davits at the stern.

The sailmaker arrived today with all our sails. Managed to bend on the main and staysail before the wind got up. The genoa should be tomorrow.

Had been hoping to leave the boatyard on Wednesday, the end of the lobster season when all pots should be removed. Pots are such a hazard as lines can get wrapped around the propellor, so easier to wait. That has now been extended due to the massive 25000 acre wildfires west of us in Shelburne preventing the lobstermen from going into harbour.
We regularly jump “out of our skin” with the numerous mobile phone Emergency Alerts. Specific areas being told to evacuate and “comfort centres” listed in recreation centres and the like.
In northwest Halifax, there are also significant fires and a pall of smoke was hanging over the bay. Wildfires are common here at this time of year but it’s devastating for those affected.
The internet too went down for a day - our first night in our new place. Only allowed to order food in restaurant once we’d been told it was cash only. The Airbnb boats a wonderful TV streaming service, but this is reliant on wifi. Couldn’t even see the local news as this is normally streamed.
The boatyard was busy with lobster boats, dropping off their traps to be transported elsewhere until next season. Two guys, next to us, moved 200 today. A busy day for them.
