C arrived on Wednesday but no bag! Had to transit through Toronto - some security issue resulted in all passengers from the London flight having their bags checked by customs. Onward flight late leaving, but no time for bag to be loaded. Hassle then on arrival with form filling etc. Not what you need after a full day’s travel! An anxious few hours but, phew, delivered on Thursday morning. So pleased to have her minimalist clothes selection including those 7 pairs of shoes!
One positive, as it turned out, was that the late start meant that we missed most of the 4000 cruise ship passengers who arrive in Halifax each day in Summer.
Took taxi to The Citadel, one of largest British fortresses on the American continent, first constructed in 1749. Perfect hilltop setting.

Off downtown afterwards to check out a restaurant, The Bicycle Thief a fashionable Italian waterfront restaurant with views! No reservations possible for outside tables. At 4pm people already eating evening meal (enjoying the sunshine). Decided to return after short visit to Pier 21 - Canadian Museum of Immigration. Had fascination tour explaining the arrival and processing of the one million immigrants arriving at Pier 21, the gateway to Canada between, 1928-71. It was also the departure and arrival point for the many World War II personnel, for those who survived plus wives and families who returned with them. Some bittersweet accounts. A brief visit but worth it
Back to The Bicycle Thief to put our names down, told to return at 7pm. Time for a craft beer in the sunshine. By 7 no sun and A, C and F could be seen wrapped in IKEA style pink fleece blankets as they waited for the delicious seafood pasta dishes! It was worth it!
Sleeveless attire not suitable for that time of the evening. Very chilly when we had to leave but got a taxi very quickly afterwards - the highly animated and twitchy driver was definitely on something!
