Set off yesterday for Ben Eoin Marina further up in East Bay. Couldn’t raise them on the mobile or VHF, moored up but not a soul to be seen. Very smart clubhouse but obviously now out of season. Rather than risking being charged overnight mooring fees with no facilities, motored across the bay and anchored behind the sand bar at Cossit Point for the night - a very sheltered spot with yet more massive summer residencies and a seat with a view!

Planned to go to Iona today, in the Grand Narrows aka Barra Strait and to the Highland Village Museum. A sheltered spot behind the wharf we’d heard. Had a very fast sail down East Bay and around the point but the wind was 30 knots on the nose as we came into Barra Strait- very lumpy seas. Called the bridge operator on the VHF, who very kindly stopped the traffic and lifted the bascule bridge.

Seas around Iona far too rough, so that’s for another day, another 5 miles brought us to Maskills Harbour, totally sheltered from all wind directions. The old lighthouse is a good landmark but no longer in use. It’s all privately owned and thankfully the owner has decided not to develop it and welcomes visitors to enjoy one of the prettiest harbours in the Lakes.

Spotted bald eagles again but still no pics! Hot showers very welcome and warming.
