Took this photo from across the harbour at The Ryan Premises, Scot Free among the fishing fleet. It’s very late in the season for most cruisers. The building on the right is the Harbour Master’s office but also houses The Matthew, note the tall grey doors to allow for the mast.

The North Americans specialise in simple signage. Their pedestrian crossings shout “WAIT” at you and if you were in any doubt about whether you are going in the correct direction; WRONG WAY gently informs you. The building on the right is The Garrick Theatre, a multi use cultural facility. Had hoped to go to live music on Saturday, but looks like there might be a weather window which we can’t miss.

Saw fish drying at the side of the road and wondered why birds weren’t interested in it. Later met the fisherman (another Gerald moment) gave us a very detailed explanation, which neither of us understood, but we gather it’s because of the salt. Surprised by that, as UK seagulls certainly like salty chips! It only takes a day and a half for the fish to dry.

Saw a good explanation of how fish are usually dried here - on “flakes” or racks.
