Decided to move back to the anchorage, no advantage to being on the wharf as “Fogo is closed for the season ”. All fenders and lines stowed, so made for a quicker getaway. Main sail hoisted at anchor, with a couple of reefs as forecast was for strong gusts. Love the coloured cabins.

A bitterly cold day with northerly winds. Fortunately some sunshine took the edge off it. Only two ferries encountered the entire day, within half an hour of each other, going from the mainland to Fogo. Taken by surprise, as used to having the ocean to ourselves.

A difficult journey to Twillingate. Navigation tricky due to all the rocks, reefs and numerous islands. Strong winds on the nose and very confused big seas, meant we motor sailed a large part of the way, a stressful and tiring day.
Very relieved to arrive in the harbour. Not a soul in sight, so tied up in the only free berth on the fishing wharf. The trawlers having reached their catch quotas have all tied up for the rest of the year. Hence the lack of space.

F went to look for the harbour master, no sign of anyone. Then Roger, a local retired fisherman, turned up by car to chat and say that the berth was fine. He’d been watching us from his house and offered to take us to the grocery store. A very kind gesture but we didn’t need anything. Having been restocking whenever possible.
