TUESDAY 23 May
2011
Another beautifull day,
Skipper went off and collected the new hour clock
for the Yanmar engine, plus the navionics charts for the east coast
of the States and some cruising guides for safe
measure,
During the morning , skipper installed the clock
and it all worked well,,
We checked with Fed Ex and our documents from the
irish Embassy in Washington will not arrive untill 2pm tomorrow,
We met a Dubliner ( Heff) as in Heffernan and he is
crewing on " Bolero " , This is a 105 foot sailing yacht from
Argentina
and they are heading down to Brazil in 10
days time.
Heff gave us a present of some hats including one
of the most coveted hats ever, the Mount Gay Rum hat, well done
Heff.
Skipper and Aileen went to Jolly harbour beach
again for a swim plus a little provisioning later,
Then back to the boat , where we had dinner on
board " A Lady" with Tom Hollway,
As you will have read in previous blogs, Tom is a
doctor who is retired now and spends much of his time cruising around these
waters
in his Island packet yacht..
This is such a small world, :-
Tom's father ( Dick ) was a doctor who spent a
long time in Hong kong, His best friend there was the chief of police who was
a
Cavanagh from Thomastown in ireland,
It seems that this chief of police may be Mary
Cavanagh's Uncle ( as in Lady Mary Tritschler from waterford ) If thats the
case, then it
really is a small world , As you know, Marys son
Neil sailed across the Indian ocean with us on " A Lady"
Anyway, we had another great evening with our roast
chicken, creamed potatoes, and backed beans, not to mention
the " A Lady" special gin & tonics.
Thats it for today,
Signed :- Stephen hyde ( Skipper
)
