THURSDAY 22nd
APRIL 2010 ( TIKEHAU
, THE TUAMOTU ISLANDS, SOUTH PACIFIC
)
We had a very showery and breezy night, but early
in the morning there were lots of birds around and lots of fish
jumping.
The place looked stunning, lots of pink sandy
beaches, and of course the " Pearl Beach Resort " hotel sitting nicly in it
all.
12.00hrs Aileen and Stephen went ashore to
the hotel , tricky in shallow water, but we made it eventually, having bashed
the engine
off a few corals on the way,
This lovely collection of bedrooms on stilts in the
water , surrounded by sand and hundreds of palm trees, shallow water for
snorkling
and as many coloured fish as you would ever want to
see,, brilliant.
Donal, meanwhile relaxed on the boat, still living
off his diving experience,
S & A had a light lunch at the hotel , and then
slept it off in a couple of hammocks among the palm trees,, ohhh this is
the life.
mind you their " pina colada's " are the worst we
ever had anywhere.
17.00 hrs A & S banged a few more rocks and
rejoined the boat, the skipper bringing a bag of ice from the hotel, so D
& S had a nice big Rum & Coke
before dinner, Bangers and Mash ,
prepared by Donal,
We had a swim and then watched a DVD called " Julie
& Julia " it was excellent and very entertaining and based on a true
storey,
Meryl Streep and Amy Adams were the main
players, great stuff, well worth a go.
We hauled the rib out of the water and secured
everything for our early departure in the morning for Tahiti.
We had lots of very heavy showers, so it does rain
in other places than Ireland, except its warm here.
Thats today ,

Hyde ( Skipper )
