SUNDAY  14th MARCH  2010        Mothers Day

04.30hrs Miles to the Marquesas...............1690 n miles
A clear starrey night  and no passing traffic or trawlers to report.

09.00hrs All up and about,  very cloudy and the wind was lighter @ 14knots

12.00hrs  Radio call, We coulg hear most boats clearly , but again we had difficulty in making contact ourselves, but eventually the mighty " Fats"
got enough energy through those rotten wires to make the connection, we are still up there with the front runners,

Only 2 flying fish on deck,  ( poor catch for the night)

We had lots of rain during the afternoon, so skipper and Fats gave Aileen some lessons in the practical
use of the E120 deck computer / navigation station and how to calculate our position.

Going to class on land based courses are great , but when you are at sea, it always seem so different, particularly
when the shit hits the fan and the wind is screeming around you and you cant see where your going because ths feckin rain is so heavy and the seas are gigantic,  Lovely stuff, but so far, we havent had any of that in the Pacific.

19.00hrs  Fats cooked a Fish Pie, using some of the fish we caught earlier, Very tasty,
The rain had now died down, but it was humid.

The night watches are :-    Aileen........................... 21.00hrs  /   01.oohrs
                                      Fats...............................01.00hrs /    05.00hrs
                                      Skipper ..........................05.00hrs  /  09.00hrs

Thats it for today

Signed ............. Stephen Hyde    ( skipper  )
