DAY 11
THURSDAY 3rd DECEMBER 2009
00.00 We are still under engine with no wind
anywhere around us, the skipper is a little concerned that the engine or
generator will not charge the batteries more than 60%, which means using the
generator much more often than we would like.
04.00 the engine stopped charging the batteries
completly, so skip sent an email to Oyster asking for assistance in dealing with
problem on arrival at St Lucia. However we still had the genny.
06.00 Still no wind
06.30 Steered the boat 20 degrees further
south to the cloud on the horizon , where we picked up a nice E.breeze 20 knots
, so shut down engine
and off we went, SAILING again after 14hrs 20mins
motoring
10.00 wind now settled from ESE at 16 / 18
knots, so we hoisted the KITE and away we went at 7 / 8knots
12.00 the wind now getting lighter so we
rolled up the main and sailed under KITE only, beautifull hot day and
beautifull sailing.
15.00 wind getting lighter still, but we were
still fetching 6 / 7knots. very very hot. 32degrees in the cabin , and a
lot hotter outside, John still suffering from the sunburn he got yesterday , and
Marks face is still glowing.
we played lots of music and the one we all liked
very much was given to the yacht by the skippers sister " LORNA"
19.30 After a few " PINK GINS " we had roast
belly pork with all the trimmings,
we sat out on deck after dinner and soaked up the
tropical scene and heat, while sailing away into the midnight sky.
Till tomorrow
