THURSDAY 16th
SEPTEMBER 2010 ( DAY
3 )
Again, a lovely starrey night and we still have all
the lightning away to the North of us.
Otherwise, an uneventfull night.
We often do our emails and the blog during the
night, and tonight we have replied to a Mr Mike Dicks, who sent us an email
through the World ARC.
inviting us on " A Lady " to his house in the
Coco's for dinner, He owns an Oyster, and is considering taking part in the next
World ARC in 2 years time.
Talking of Blogs, according to Niall O'Rielly and
Stefan, Kieran Jameson, Mr Watson, Mr Mc Sweeney and many others in Dublin
read our blog, we will have to meet them all when
we return to motherland and have a real Guinness, washed down with a
Jameson.
07.45 hrs We put up our great KITE and with
the benifit of a 15 / 19 knot breeze from the ESE we scooted along 8
knots +,
of course we also had the benifit of a 1.5
knot current , a gift from God. ( as " Fays " would say,........... free
miles............)
We spent the morning showering and preening
ourselves, Its amazing how fast we can become grubby and sticky. In this
heat
and with this humidity, its a shower every 2 hours
we really need. At this stage , we can tell who is upwind of us without
looking.
12.00hrs Distance
travelled.......................................448 miles
Distance to our Destination........................ 652 miles
Distance south of the rum
line......................47 miles
Our
position :- 11 degrees 03' South
107 degrees 41'East
We changed the water pump on the fridge and freezer
system, the old one eventually stopped working, but whatever we did, the new one
is not
cooling the units down, even though we have water
pumping away at a great rate. we would welcome any
suggestions.
14.00hrs We had Dinner.. today it consisted
of small pieces of roast Fatty pork and tons of crackling, together with
potatoes
and carrots all creamed up together with chopped up
onions and cheese added for a bit of extra taste. We also had green beans
for colour.
No one complained,
Later, the swell got very big, about 4m , even
though the wind was getting lighter, and the sea became very
confused,
this made it very difficult to keep our KITE and
eventually around 7.30pm we dropped the Kite and motored,
the wind at this stage was only around 8
/ 9 knots from behind, and we were rocking and rolling like a bitch.
yeach.
Darkness fell, but there was a good glow from the
1/2 moon, despite the clouds. Ohhhhh its very warm and sticky...
We had tea, biscuits, cheese and fruit for our
evening snack...
