We departed Capo Rizzuto at 0415. Immediately clearing the anchorage we encountered good winds, 17knts to 26knts, 60P. Given the distance to be covered we are motor sailing, jib and main double reefed, averaging +8.5knts. Yesterday evening we took the dinghy ashore to have dinner. It took some time to find a restaurant open on a Monday night. Finally, a local couple assisted us. It is an odd part of Italy, the places we have been in Calabria so far. The tourist scene is minimal. There is very little in the way of facilities for the boating fraternity, no major marinas, no jetties to tie off a tender. The complete opposite of Greece nearby. I see opportunity!

Bar in Capo Rizzuto. Local church, get out of jail card each Sunday for the local Mafia?

Only tourist yacht at Capo Rizzuto! Weird the lack of facilities for boating fraternity, or tourist generally. We appeared to be the only non Calabrians in the town, hardly any restaurants open, kids and adults on scooters and motor bikes with not a helmet in sight.
