0745     Cleared Santa Maria di Leuca marina. Set a 75NM course for Crotone, the other side of Golfo di Corigliano. Wind 12knts from the NW, tending 60 degrees on the SB, gradually swinging to broad reaching conditions. Given the long haul we motored sailed with the genoa and main up, seeing good speeds of +9nts. About two thirds the way across the winds dropped, so sails down. Susanna assisted me in bringing the genoa in, take up the slack side genoa sheet. Nat knocked up an excellent feed for lunch, improvising from what remained in the fridge.

15:30    Anchored on the north side of the commercial port, Porto Nuvo, Crotone, due to the southerly wind. We took the dinghy into the commercial port, tied alongside and went into Crotone town for supplies and an Italian data chip from Vodafone for the modem. I changed out the 8mm Dyneema traveller rope for a 12mm rope as the smaller diameter Dyneema was slipping on the traveller winch. Later on we took the dinghy into the tourist port to have dinner. Crotone is a larger town than we anticipated. All the action was on the Italian v Croatian soccer game in the Euro cup, ending in a 1 all draw.
