After berthing in the always busy Bonafacio Marina in Corsica Julie, Mick and I organised a hire car and checked out the old walled town. This included exploring down the stairs (70 metres vertical) carved out of the cliff face at Pointe De Timon to a grotto near the spectacular entrance of the port. The stairs, the story goes, were carved by Saracen King Alfonso V in an attempt to conquer Bonifacio.

There is so much activity with grotto tourist boats, large pleasure vessels and a whole array of sailing and motor yachts coming and going. Watching the action of berthing attempts at the marina by helmsman with varying levels of skill is entertainment in itself.

Later that evening I drove to Figara airport to pick up Jude at about 10pm
