Up early for a swim. Local fishermen laid a net close to the boat which they hauled back in about 40 minutes later. 09:00 Weighed anchor and departed for Taormina. 15:45 Anchored at Taormina. We headed off in the dinghy with the intent to take the funicular up to the hillside town of Taormina. It was literally impossible to place the dinghy any
where onshore. No jetties, all the beaches privatised or occupied with hire boats. After an hour so in the dinghy we returned to the bay where Westralia was anchored, planning to tie up against one of the small private jetties therein. About 200m away we ran
out of fuel so Nat and I paddled to a small jetty. We were readily assisted by the female owner and her husband, ending up pulling the boat up the pebble beach. I walked to the fuel station 3 mins away and filled the dinghy fuel tank. When I returned we got
supplies and returned to the dinghy. Nat gave the lady Chrissy, who assisted, a bottle of wine, she gave Nat a silver covered chain and cross, they exchanged contact details and new friends were made. Chrissy has relations in Sydney. We had a relatively early
dinner nearby and then returned to Westralia. Early morning fisherman
