In the morning at 0815 we took a ferry to St Mark's, Venice and went for a guided tour through St Mark's Basilica and Doges palace. Very interesting and fascinating history, with the
evangelist St Mark's body being stolen from the Egyptians in Alexandria in the year 828, hidden in a basket with pork meat on top, which the Egyptian guards refused to touch! So the story goes. And of course The Clock Tower of San Marco Square, Venice, Italy,
is one of the most famous symbols of the city. We returned to the marina mid afternoon for a shower then into the rooftop restaurant at the Excelsior Hotel. Unfortunately long trousers were the dress code, so Mark and I scurried around
and managed to buy a 10 Euro pair of black trousers, which got us through the door. Chloe wore her new Dolce Gabbana dress.
