9 August 09:10 Depart Kastos. Under motor, light winds on the nose 12:30 Anchored and tied off to shore, Athinos, Meganisi. Catherine swam the rope to shore and found a sling that had been abandoned, jammed under the rock she tied off to. When the
yacht took up the load the rock moved, so we moved the tie off point to a more secure position. I return to the original rock and managed to undermine it be removing smaller rocks and recovered the abandoned sling! This goes with our previously very long recovered
floating stern rope, from a previous abandonment a few years ago. Catherine and I went for a 2km walk around the island to explore the main town of Vathy. We returned noting the quality of the local houses built out of local stone. Seriously good stonemason
crafts. Unfortunately, during summer, they are not at the work so you do not get the opportunity to see them at work. Later, after opening the Westralia bar, we headed ashore for dinner at one of the two local tavernas. At anchor, tied off to shore The abandoned sling we recovered Start with a pit in the back yard Sort and size the rocks End up with this
