Position at 1200 Darwin local time 28/07/13

Very light winds unfortunately. I motored from anchor up until 0330 this morning. The wind filled n nicely and I was able to make about 4kts SOG for a couple of hours then it died away a bit. Right now I’ve started up again for a couple of hours. Projected 24 hour run was 92nm and I want to try and bump that up to 100nm. Normally I wouldn’t bother but I want to be sure that the Sail Indonesia team are still in Kupang when I arrive to assist with formalities. I doubt if I’ll make the welcoming ceremony, I’m at the back of the fleet! Obviously others are wanting to buy diesel in Kupang.

Some problems with battery charging. I connected the engine-driven alternator to the house battery last night whilst motoring. The result was both the house and starter battery were down first thing this morning. I used the Emergency Elektrikery to boost the starter battery and then charged the house for 45 mins. The EE still isn’t right but it does deliver a charge. I think the current problem (spot the pun) might lie in the selector switch on the alternator, i.e. off/lo/hi.

Slight seas but also a slight cross-swell which is annoying. It’s hot though, I didn’t need a T shirt last night, a first for a long time.

Hey ho, 358nm to landfall then  bit of a wiggle to get to the anchorage.
