Arun the Elektrik showed up, annoyed because John the GRP has shouted at him. I said OK, I'll shout at you then!
He was busy telling me how he couldn't trace the anchor windlass power cable and had spent 'several hours' looking for it. Now I might be wrong in this, but in approximately 93 seconds I found the end of a wire that he had disconnected that looked remarkably like the wire attached to the windlass motor in the stbd fore-deck locker. I can't wait to hear his comment when he next shows up. As a result of his half-day visit I now have a working VHF radio, hot wired to the battery, probably a better arrangement than via a power switch. Yes, there is a fuse. 'We' are confused because the wiring on the GPS antenna doesn't match the wiring on the radio GPS input. I may be simple (thank you, keep your opinions to yourself) , but I would have thought ten minutes trying various combinations might do the trick, provided the GPS antenna has survived.
Yes, you ARE correct in surmising that the engines still have not been run, nor have the alternator and starter motor showed up. Martin didn't put in an appearance yesterday either, nor was he at the bar. Perhaps somebody else has killed him? And I was so looking forward to it.
John the GRP will have the rudders done and dusted early next week. This weekend there is a Fijian traditional mourning service for his brother. The body still has not been found. To be fair to Arun (answers to why be fair to Arun on a postcard) his son's Father in Law has just died, the funeral was yesterday. Sorry and all that, but was there a period of pre-death mourning which prevented the job being finished in APRIL?
Good news, Calypso are in Suva. Bad news, they have no anchor windlass and have chart plotter problems. They are in the Tradewinds anchorage which has buoys. Hopefully see them today. Quite a few other yotties passing through. If I don't get going soon I'm going to explode!
Just proof-reading the paperback version of 'Kittie Cracks case' (for the nth time....n stands for many, or should that have been mth time?). This time I think I got it right, so paperback should be available from Amazon next week. at £6.99. Sorry about the price, production costs y'know.
