Apart from saving fuel there is a reason for going slowly. The South Pacific Convergence Zone (SPCZ) is south of Fiji at the moment which brings unsettled weather, yesterday it was a band basically running East to West between 24S and 20S. In the band was a low pressure system which was causing a few problems but which should have gone off to the SE by now, hence we've not neen in a hurry to get up to the bad weather and NE winds! Right now we're tracking NNW at a leisurely 3 kts SOG or so in 9/10kts of ESE winds and occassional light rain. I hear from boats in Savu Savu (on the SSB net) that the weather there is quite pleasant, the beers are cold etc etc, so sometime next week we may find out for ourselves and report back to you lot about it:)
All well on board, chocolate cookies worked out OK but I should have used more sugar (healthy option or misjudgement?).
