Well, perhaps more of a seep than a leak, but of course that's tied up alongside and not pounding through an angry sea. It's in the area of the black water tank, so I'm hoping that the top panel needs resealing, but I'm not feeling that lucky.
It's been a morning for leaks. Yesterday I started my home-brew rice wine. I found a nice, collapsible thick plastic water carrier, with a tap. Not thick enough Moriarty. Early this morning there was a not-quite-thick-enough plasticky sort of creaking, then a fairly pleasant smell of fermenting 'brew'. Luckily I had a really, really thick plastic jerry-can handy, so I spent a pleasant (?) forty five minutes transferring liquid/sodden rice/sugar et al from one to the other. Then I discovered the leak in the bilge. Not such a pleasant smell.
The rudders should be going on this morning. The Dive Shop couldn't do it yesterday, but I discovered that they'd rung John the GRP and insisted that he be here for the operation. The last couple of days he's gone a bit Fijian, which is a shame because he was the one contractor I always thought of as being reliable. Now of course we'll have to get to the bottom of this leak.
Martin was supposed to organise an electrician to wire up the engines yesterday. He turned up instead an made measurements of where he's going to put the new ignition keys and engine gauges. The electrician is now coming on Saturday, by which time I will most likely have gone insane. At this rate I will be needing a visa extension for myself and one for the boat. I don't want to start the process yet, but tempus is fugitting rapidly now. I have to leave by 1st September.
