Plan D/3

'Sarf & West mate, Sarf & West'

These last few days have been spent in 'deep cleaning' the starboard hull.
OK, to be precise a chap I hired has spent the last few days deep
cleaning, I've spent the last few days consistently failing to get the
keyway out of either rudder and failing to remove the Kiwi prop
assembly(s) from either saildrive leg. I have managed to clear and clean
the starboard foredeck locker and am in the process of doing the same to
the gas locker. Should finish that today. Peter the German wants to put
off repairing the hulls for a couple of months. I think he needs to
arrange for the shipping of resin/mats etc from Oz (cheaper than
locally-sourced materials), he may have another delivery trip in the
offing and lastly he is aware of my financial position. All fine & dandy
but I haven't as yet hit on a money making scheme and I'm still waiting to
hear when the book (the only fiscal plan at the moment) will be published.
In the meantime the 18 month customs clock is ticking and my next birthday
draws closer with every passing day.
Adding to a generally gloomy situation, Rose's elder brother passed away
last week, so the house has become a meeting place for the family. The
singing (hymns) is wonderful, but I feel I'm intruding, even though I lock
myself away in my room. What can you say, the poor guy was 49!
On a slightly lighter note, I've had to replace my $8.50 Vinod Patel
Sandals. Totally worn out after just over 200 kms walking! I reckon that's
a cost of 1.9p per Km. My new sandals cost me $30 so it'll be interesting
(interesting? Boy life must be really fun!) to see how long these last. On
the first 'run' they got me up the hill in 50 mins and 35 seconds,
tantalizingly/frustratingly short of the 50 min mark. I arrived in a
sweaty heap to find the house full of ladies sitting on the living room
floor.......
