Taihohae
After a very pleasant walk ashore last night and a very peaceful, swell-free night at anchor in a really pretty bay, we upped-anchor and sailed round to 'the main drag', Taihohae. Gennaker furled away, motored into the anchorage, found a nice spot and.......no 'down anchor' button. Up OK, down...nada, it dun gon quencham************
Dropped the hook manually, set the anchor & disappeared into my 'front office', that's the one where the anchor windlass just happens to be situated. Changed the quick connections over to test the anchor switch, it works OK. HMMMM. Check all the connections, OK....hmmmmm. Bending double over the spare anchor and a sack of rubbish I accessed yet another small space where the junction box for the windlass connections is kept. Yup, a loose wire (no, this isn't one that I had previously touched, before any smart-arse asks!). Connection re-made, other connections rubber taped-up and the anchor.....still worked OK. Retire with a warm, self -satisfied feeling and an aching back to consider a cold beer. It is only 3pm local time, but it is Sunday.
'POP    fffsssss'.......Just the one.
