Puertito
Well, blimey. I left Gran tarajal about 1000, one reef in the main and one reef in the working jib. Had a very quick ride down to a place called Morro Jable, courtesy of the famed Canarian Wind Acceleration Zone (gradually adding reefs as I went. Rounding Morro Jable the wind died off almost completely (no, I wasn't fooled but MJ is supposed to be right in the WAZ, but heading WNW towards Puertito turned into an interesting beat with gusts up to 40kts at 60deg apparent. The only thing you could say was the sea wasn't too bad because there was insufficient fetch for it to build up!
Anyway, anchored in 5 metres, almost flat sea but gusting to 30 kts of wind! The holding is allegedly good, in sand.  I'll find out during the night. Assuming I don't have an 'unplanned departure' ( not on a lee shore, so I might find I'm already en-route) I'll be leaving at first light for Gran Canaria, about 60nm. IF the wind is the same or similar then I might make an average of 7kts and be there in about 9 hours (that was todays average).
