Still in Carlisle Bay, but planning on sailing up
to Port St Charles tomorrow am to clear out, then overnight to St Lucia.
Barbados is a pleasant enough place, but OH BOY, is it
expensive. I managed to stay 'in budget' during January , by dint
of being aty sea until the 20th! All the tourist attractions cost at least £10
per head to get into, so after a couple I stopped going. The supermarkets are
all Caribbean expensive, so a diet of rice, pasta and chicken beckons. At least
the rum is a reasonable price, just under £3 for a rum punch and 1.75 litres of
Mount Gay extra old cost me £16.
Oh well, St Lucia won't be much cheaper, how the
localos manage I don't know. Somebody said to me 'you buy what you need, not
what you want'. A good philosophy whilst cruising, I
think.
