For those whio may be following, this may be of
interest:
Check in costs at Porvenir, US dollars
Immigration $15 per person. This is not a visa,
which you now need to get in Colon
Cruising permit: I got a two month permit at $49.
There are 1, 2 and 3 month permits available
getting a Zarpe needed to leave an administrative
area, checking in and out, $12.70
Total Immigration costs $30 (2
persons)
otal Port
Authority $61.7
total $91.70
The visa in Colon costs more as does processing the
Zarpe. I also hear there is now a $30 fumigation charge (for the paper,
fumigation not done) and a security charge of $110 (both payable to the Canal
Authority. Apparently the fumigation certificate is required in
Galapagos.
Due to the offices being closed here for Carnival
next week, lots of boats checking in and out. Apart from Delicado, Kilkea is
here as is Sea Mist (John and Cheryl). The plan remains off tomorrow for Linton
Island, about 45nm. Hopefully ashore later to buy a local SIM card for $3.00
Local calls apparently cost 0.05 cents per minute and calls to the USA 0.17
cents per minute, much cheaper than my internation SIM card and I have a feeling
I may need a local number!
