An interesting trip yesterday. An hours flight from Georgetown in a
Britten Norman Islander (ah, memories eh?), then a two hour tour of the
falls area and lunch. Sending this via the hotel computer so no way to
down load all the photos, you'll have to wait for them a few more
days/weeks.
We're returning to Troutbridge today and apparently have a meeting with
the minister for tourism on Monday to discuss what 'yotties' would like to
see change in Guyana to make it more attractive. We'll see if it takes
place.
Planning on checking out next Tuesday, take a day to get down the river
then Wed en route back to Trini. With a bit of luck should be there
sometime Fri or early Saturday. Then it'll be 'get the gennaker repaired,
get the furling gear track repaired and THEN it will be time to head north
to Grenada. Time has flown and the Pacific is beckoning.
A very rough timetable (subject to the usual health warnings) is:
First 2 weeks Nov in Grenada and/or Grenadines
last 2 weeks Nov en- route to the ABCs via westernmost venezuelan offshore
isles
Beginning Dec en route to Cartegenia (Colombia)
Xmas probably in either Colombia or the San Blas Isles
Jan arrange for Panama transit at the end of Feb and cruise Panama area,
maybe make an overland visit to Ecuador, depending on how the money goes.
End of Feb/beginning March WESTWARD HO!!!!
Galapagos
Marquesas
Tahiti (+ other islands in the group)
Cook Islands (probably the Southern Cooks)
Tonga
New Zealand by early Dec.
So, as I've said previously, the dear old insurers want 3 people onboard
for the Pacific crossing, any takers? You pay your airfares, food and
drink, I'll take care of boat expenses.
