Noon to noon run 170nm!!
Well well well, for my birthday treat Helen (chef
du jour) made me (us) brunch, the full 'kosher' - scrambled eggs, turkey rashers
and turkey sausages. Troutbridge gave me her best ever daily run of 170nm
(previous best 159nm, crossing the Atlantic) & Delicado allowed us to catch
up 7 nm since last night, so we're almost in VHF range (about 15nm
apart).
Lots of good wishes on the net, including a 'hello'
from Mike & Liz on Aurora B who are about 80nm ahead of us. The good news
from ther Marquesas is that it seems we are allowed a four day 'period of grace'
before checking in, so that allows us to visit the southernmost island of Fatu
Hiva for a couple of days before going up to Hiva Ova to check in.
The weather has settled down a bit although the sea
is still occasionally a little 'lumpy'. The plan right now is to track a
bit more west for the next 24 hours before turning SW again for Fatu Hiva. We'll
be opening the betting on the arrival date soon, but just between you and me I
reckon we'll be there sometime between the 17th and 19th May, unless things
change dramatically. Our daily average stands at 146nm or 6.08kts. Freya should
start baking the cake soon for afternoon tea, so all is well with the
world!
