Well,
we had our 'soiree' last night. A total of 11 people on the boat, which is certainly the most so far in the Caribbean. Can't remember boat names/peoples names too well this morning, but there was Lois & Derek (Canadian) off a  pretty Tayanama 37. Derek works for the charter company that rented the boats out for the OCC rally in Vancouver last year, so he and Helen had a lot to chat about! There was a couple off a Bermudan-registered Oyster 56 and an American Oyster 56 with three onboard (the boats travelling in company).
I braved the 'soupy water' of the bay and had a look under the boat yesterday. I'm not surprised the log had stopped working, barnacles everywhere!!! I managed to clean most of the 'green slime' off the waterline, but getting the rest of the huill clean will have to wait until clearer waters. Off on a shopping expedition this morning. Apparently, there is a petrol station just outside Trois Islets that has chicken! and BEER!!! Yes, the strike is still alive and well in Martinique, allthough now over in Guadeloupe. Due to the exchange rate, the French Islands are very expensive, I spent E40 on getting a medium sized padlock, three eyes spliced into a couple of lengths of wire and a small stick of Loctite. The only cheap thing about the shopping trip occurred when the lady in the 'not so' supermarket in Les Trois Islets forgot to include 2 dozen eggs on the bill. No butter to be had anywhere and so far no meat.
According to 'Eric the Weather' this morning, the NNE swells and wind will remain until late Sunday night, so by the sound of it we'll up sticks and move up to St Pierre on Monday, then up to Dominica early Tuesday morning. The morning radio schedule is now getting quite crowded with Eric at 0630 (local), then the OCC net at 0730 and finally the Coconut Telegraph at 0800. After that lot, I need to go back to bed!!!!!!!! Still, up with the sun then back to bed when the moon rises (how boring).
