Although one was slightly bent. Martin had it straightened, then it got lost in his workshop. After asking him for it since the beginning of last September, this is what I now have...
And he can't blame bloody Mcgintys' goat. Apparently 'his man' put it under the boat on Good Friday afternoon, I suppose I must have left about 3pm ish. Whatever, it isn't there now, so Martin is going to get another one fabricated. That'll mean inferior stainless I'm sure, but it would take too long to order and I'm sure that I would have an argument about who's going to pay. Right now he appears to accept that he is. To add insult to injury, 'Arun the Elektrik' didn't show up and Butto showed up with a sick note (bad back). I think he thought he might be getting sick pay, but he doesn't think that now.
The 'hippie-fication' continues. There's no way the wood can be restored to original condition, at least not here,
so I might as well have a cheerful interior to look at.
Romina (RSYC manager) asked me when I though the boat would be ready. When I said the end of next week she seemed surprised and I had to admit that I was probably being wildly optimistic (probably???). In truth, there's not that much more that 'has' to be done before putting the boat in the water. I could do the mast repairs afloat and sanding/second coats could be done afloat as well. John the GRP is finishing off a job (which he told me about) and if the weather holds (bloody hot and humid at the moment) we'll tackle the gelcoat this week.
Hey ho. originally, I did think about retiring onto a canal barge in France/European waterways but that that I had one more adventure in me. Got that right then!
