I actually crewed in this event in 2003, but this time around just drifted and took plenty of photos. Lots of traditional, not so traditional and downright strange craft on the water, mostly crewed by people who have little or no idea of marine VHF radio procedures and a vague grasp of 'rules of the road'. Entertaining with upwards of 100 boats in a relatively small area, just like the Solent on a sunny Sunday in August, in fact. Decided to give the party a miss as wel, too expensive and last time the food (Hangi ~ first bury your food and let it fester with 'hot rocks'l for half a day) was revolting. Right now as I type this Cadey is making choc-chip cookies, which smell better (than the Hangi). About one hour and we'll find out how they taste! Oh yes, they do a joint of corned beef here. Very tasty done in the pressure-cooker with vegetables and potatoes, and washed down with red wine.
