Waiting for the flood

Just call me Noah! Heavy rain for the last few days courtesy of Cyclone Oswald and today the winds have been strong and gusty. There is a possibility of flooding in the river particularly associated with the upcoming higher tides. Naturally the local press are talking it up but the official forecasts are not quite so dire.

One perhaps not so minor problem is that the wind has swung round to a more easterly quadrant which makes the river bank at the Botanical garden side a quite close lee shore. As far as I can tell neither of the two anchors have dragged and I've taken in 5 metres of chain on the main anchor to try and move a bit further away from the wall. This means I have 15 metres down with the MHWS depth where I am of 3 metres. There is a possibility particularly on Wednesday that the levels may be 2 metres above normal but on the other hand wind strengths are forecast to be decreasing. Oh well, at least it's not cold and the book sales are going well.
