Had a very pleasant run from Thornham down the Solent on Friday 23rd. twin  headsails and just the 'swoosh' of water. Lost the tide going past Lymington, but as it was a pleasant evening decided to 'buck' the tide past Hurst Castle and continue on to Poole Harbour. A great view of the lights of Bournemouth and thanks to a combination of Mr Raymarine, Mr navionics & 'me rheumy old eye' managed to find Blood Alley in the dark, drop the hook & sort it all out in the morning. Well, later on that morning actually.... I had a reflective glass of 'Scottish Wine' on the foredeck at 0030 before turning in.
A mixed bag of weather over the weekend. I picked up Jacquie & Richard at Poole Yacht Haven on Saturday morning & they spent the night on board. Sunday morning was miserable when I dropped them back, but the afternoon was suberb. Plenty of food and drink (plus good company) on the rally. Mike (another BB38 owner) and I put the 'boat to rights' [decided that they were pretty good, all things considered] & on Monday Geoff came over and cast an expert eye over the single line reefing. At the moment I'm in Poole Yacht Haven (Poole Town Quay) for a couple of days to say final farewells to the family, then back out to the Channel Isles on Thursday, by the looks of the weather. I neglected to take any photos of this weekend, but Mike said he would forward some so I'll post those at a later date.
I think I'm getting into this 'retirement thing' :)
