Things are progressing at a wallet-strippingly impressive rate. The batteries will eventually be in a box, but this is where they'll be going.

At least I'll be able to get to them, even if they do take up a bit of space.

Of course the battery switches have had to be relocated, they used to reside in the lazarrette. The only things left in there now are the solar panel regulator and the on/off switch for the wind genny. The good news (?) about that is Arun the Electrick says he'll fettle it 'for free'. No, of course he hasn't over-charged for the rest of the job, what a suspicious person you are to be sure!

The roof panels need cleaning and the velcro needs replacing, but hey, it's looking a bit more like home. We haven't tested the lights yet, but the wiring will be in place, so all (ha3) I'll need to do is replace the knackered units and connect them up. Speaking of knackered units, the local chandlery (well that's being polite) actually had a masthead tricolour/anchor light unit. Not LED, but only (!) F$197. Much much cheaper than anything I saw in Oz, so I've asked the shop to put the unit to one side, on the basis that unfortunately I'll more than likely need it.

Amresh the canvas has just quoted F$300 to repair/clean/re-stich the UV strips on both headsails. There is some question over the quality of the cotton he uses for stitching, but if it lasts a season......

The autopilot 'brain' is now in place, the hydraulic steering pump is back in and connected AND the autopilot controller and depth guage have been mounted in the cockpit control panel. The only 'show stopper' today was I discovered the 12V Whale 'gulper' shower sump pump was in fact a 24V unit in a 12V box. I did a good impression of Kevin the Teenager, but Arun reckons he knows a way round it, seeing as the pump is used for about thirty seconds at a time, max.

original limp-wristed multi-speed unit on the right, big butch single speed (fast and noisy) unit on the left. Actually, from what I remember the new units are slightly cheaper than the originals. I may not be able to sleep because of the noise but I won't be too hot, that's for damn sure!
