Life in Prickly Bay

When I was here in May, I thought the water wasn't particularly clear.
After months and months and months of Chagauramas and the Essequibo river,
it now seems pristine and wonderful. I can almost see the anchor!
The cruisers net here is at 0730, so a little earlier than Chag, but I can
cope with that. There's a very pleasant breeze in the anchorage, which
means the KISS is keeping the batteries nicely charged.
I've spent the day cleaning the cockpit (yes, I know but even I tidy up
sometimes), breaking the back of editing the new DVD (which should be
finished in a couple of days) and finally spending US$30 on a weeks wifi.
Hey, Skype-me, baby!!
Not much else to report. I've run the water-maker. Strange to see its more
usual flow rate. I think the product water is now going into the tank, but
I may just do a bit of re-plumbing..more, no doubt, later. Ah yes, the
dingy (bless it) was a trifle, shall we say, flaccid this morning. I've
re-glued the repair I made and so far (after about 6 hours) all is once
more well.
The weather is mainly good, with some showers, but over-all more
'Caribbeany', if you know what I mean, a very welcome change after Trini.
I'll probably be here for 7 - 10 days, then moving west. Not quite sure
where to exactly, as there has just been a report of attempted piracy near
one of the offshore Venezuelan islands I was planning on going.
I think there may be an influx of boats from Trini next week, so no doubt
there'll be re-unions at happy hour over at Spice Island marina.
Hope the weather is really great wherever you are. If you're reading this
blog in Gran Canaria, you have boat jobs to do :) Good luck on the ARC,
you'll love the crossing.
