Noon to noon distance was 119 nm.
Last evening the wind shifted more to the NE, so we followed it round and took up the rhumb line track for Galapagos. We kept the 1.5 kt SW flowing current. During the early hours of the morning the wind died away completely and we have been motoring for about 5 hours now. Just rigged the gennaker pole (20 minutes hot and sweaty work in this heat/humidity) and of course what wind there was swung round onto the other side of the boat....oh bollocks!!!!!. So, now free-flying the gennaker on the opposite side of the boat to where the pole is.
The question now is power on the rhumb line track or edge further south to get out of the Doldrums faster? Maybe the Grib files will tell us. Stay tuned for tomorrows exciting installment. Oh yes, about 580nm to go.
