It was a peaceful, sunny Sunday afternoon and I was sitting in the cockpit, taking in the rays with a nice pot of tea (yes TEA, really) as you do, when I noticed a lot of smoke amongst the trees on the wooded hill on the other side of the ria. Initially I thought that it might be coming from the industrial plant which is situated nearby, but then the helicopter arrived, picked up its fire-bucket from a nearby location and went to work. It took them somewhere between an hour and an hour and a half to put the fire out.
This morning, as I was preparing this entry, the CL44 water-bomber came over to inspect the site. It made one low, slow pass but obviously things were OK so it flew off again.
Exciting life this cruising!!!
