Oh dear, the $35 pair are on their way out. Not sure about the mileage on these, I did some walking in Blighty, but not as much as I usually do out here. For those of you who've been following the computer saga on Facebook, I have nothing new to report. For those who haven't the screen went all 'pixaleted' on Sunday morning, just when I thought I'd settle down to a days writing/editing. After a couple of trips to the Apple reseller, it appears that the chip may be at fault. There is a known duff batch, and if mine is one of them then it gets fixed foc, if not...... Something else I didn't need right now.
Work has slowed on the boat because we're waiting for the shipment from Oz, not too sure when that'll be arriving. I've asked an electrician to stop by in a couple of weeks and I'll get an estimate for testing the wiring. The old budget has spiralled a bit out of control I'm sorry to say, a new autopilot system and echo sounder will cost about £1000 and the engine spares will be about £1800 by the time they get out here. I'm investigating a cheaper source. That still leaves the wiring to do, new batteries, el cheapo cooker and the fridge to remantle. And let's not forget the sails need checking over, I think just the uv strips on the headsails need restocking, but I don't have a machine. I need a couple of new halyards and I'll either have to resurrect the sat phone of buy a second hand SSB. Oh, and a blow- up mattress for my cabin. I'll get a quote from Amresh the canvass, but I still have to finish paying- off the Dive Centre for the hire of the air bags.....and so it goes on.
A pity the book isn't on sale at the moment, hopefully Emma the Agent is busy resubmitting to better capitalised publishers!
