Alternator angst

All fine and dandy you might think. The alternator light went out but it became apparent that the alternator was not in fact producing much in the way of wiggly amps. An almost flat battery resulted, rescued by a couple of days of sun.
The suspect alternator was taken in for 'mantling' to a place where Dave (Madden), long-term river resident and all-round helpful guy, knows of. As you might recall Dave took me to the Gold Coast on an anchorage recce which was interrupted by the wayward Wharram.
I should be picking the alternator up tomorrow. It is actually producing a healthy charge however due to a combination of very worn pulley, a very noisy bearing and a brush that doesn't appear to have been seated properly the wiggly amps were not progressing from the alternator to the batteries.
All will be fixed/replaced at a reasonable cost of A$75 (two weeks shopping budget). In the meantime it's raining again and will be most likely until the end of the week.
The river authorities have been opening the dam recently draining off excess water in anticipation of more rainfall and trying to avoid another flood. Great fun with strong currents! In the meantime I am awaiting a contract from Emma the Agent. Apparently a publisher is interested in one of my manuscripts. More on that as it develops.
Hey ho, it's a grand life if you don't weaken.
