Let's hope I've remembered how to enter the position correctly!
A nice float down the river, got the timing about right at the fueling dock and was able to ferry-glide onto the dock even with a stiffish wind blowing me off. Well my luck had to change sometime!
Motored over to the shallow area on the other side of the river and with the echo-sounder choosing to play up (great timing) I gently put Trouters onto the putty at almost exactly low tide. Yes, tomorrow's tide is bigger before you ask. 20 metres of muddy chain out, no need to check transits just yet .
Had an icy-cold but needed shower and after contemplating tonight's menu decided on bean and lentil vindaloo. Is this wise? Not sure yet but it was delicious.
The forecast is reasonable tomorrow, SE 15-20kts, 1.7 metre seas and 2 metre swell with occasional thunderstorms. I'll decide what I'm going to do when I get to Moreton Island but if the weather holds and the forecast is right, even leaving on Thu morning should get me to Fraser Island by Friday, with the option of anchoring behind Double Island Point if the timing is wrong for the dreaded Wide Bay Bar.
Just a quick statistic. I left Noumea on 13th December. Fill-to-the-brim fuel tank took 117 litres, Considering I must have motored at least 72 hours and all the way up the river (and back down of course) from Rivergate plus at least ten/fifteen hours engine on to charge the batteries this wasn't too bad.
