Getting there......but where exactly?

As you can see below, I now have the extended fiddle-rail more or less fitted. Hopefully this will correct the problem of pots and pans moving off the hob whilst at sea. I say more or less fitted because (put the kettle on, this may take a little time) when Mark the fabricator finally arrived on board clutching various bits of stainless steel and tools/sealant etc he drilled four locating holes in the worktop to fit the fiddle rail. OK, I had envisaged attaching the new rail with long self-tappers, but he decided to bolt the construction on. Unfortunately, he hadn’t measured the depth of the worktop nor had he considered that we would have to lift-out the oven to get to the nuts!  The bolts were ½” too short. I suggested that it would be OK to use sealant to attach the fitting, he thought that two-part epoxy would be better. Fine (as the alternative was to take the thing away and lengthen the bolts, to my mind a ‘no no’ considering the amount of time that has passed so far. Naturally, neither of us had any two-part epoxy on us, so he promised to return this morning (wed). You know what happens (or rather, didn’t happen) next ☹

On the bright side he did fit the outboard hoist, I just need to adapt a pulley system for it, but it should make getting shopping, luggage & fuel onboard much easier. Piccies of the davit mods below:

There was a miscommunication with the riggers. I thought were going to call me for a ride out to the boat at 1000…..They showed up, then went to the KNJ office but nobody thought to call me on VHF, although Rhonda (KNJ) did send me an email. Be that as it may, I’ve had a relaxing day on the boat doing ‘SFA’ .
Said ‘cheerio’ to Pepe & Big Bear (Beez Neez) last night in Loggerheads (the bar on the veranda at Peakes). They will be back on the 15th Sept and are thinking maybe of coming down to Guyana. Not quite sure if I’ll already have ventured south by then or not. Judging by my experience they’ll have to plan on at least another week after they get back to finish up all the jobs which they thought might have been completed whilst they were away!.
There is a plan afoot for three or four ‘boat-loads’ to go to a Chinese restaurant for Sunday lunch, which should be fun. Perhaps I’ll remember to take the camera with me.
Oh yes,no spacefor some Emancipation day photos on this blog, I’ll put them on Picasa and open them for ‘public consumption’, assuming
a)    I can remember how
b)    B) I get a reliable WIFI link.
