'Da Boyz' (the Atlantic Crew) flew out on Monday
afternoon and are no doubt now happily esconced in day to day family affairs.
Bob arrived on Sunday, so we were able to have a pleasant evening together and a
'group tour' round the island on Monday. Harrison's cave is a fascinating place
and on Monday we went to Speightstown, visiting a museum there (not to mention
the Fisherman's Bar, for lunch). This week I feel will be taken up with scuba
diving, showing Bob around Bridgetown, checking up on my other email address and
drinking rum punches! The punches are about the same price as a bottle of beer,
so no contest really. We've also discovered the 'Chefette' (a local fast-food
chain) which serve up good food (no, really) at reasonable prices. I've
re-discovered my taste for chicken roti.
Helen (fellow OCC member) arrives on saturday, so
we'll hire a car for a couple of days so it'll be easier to pick her up at
the airport and show her a bit of Barbados before heading for St Lucia around
2nd Feb, always assuming my watermaker has been returned from Trinidad. In
the meantime, around the boat we have a couple of 'resident' turtles and a
couple of Lion Fish to look at when we go snorkelling.
I should mention that I maligned the 'Boatyard
Bar'. Apparently you can redeem the entire cover charge against food and drink.
What fooled us was that they take the entry receipt off you and then enter the
details in a computerised till! It was too noisy to talk to the barman properly
the first time we went in there...DOH!!!!! We've also had one freebie use of the
dingy dock. The only downside is the water from their system is highly
clorinated, but you get used to it after a couple of
days!
