Now I'm not really complaining you understand, but Romina (the manager of the Royal Suva YC) lives near Tamavua Village, and her route to work coincides with mine. If she passes me in the car, she always stops and offers me a lift, which certainly cuts down on the sandal wear, but does nothing for weight control, nor walking off any 'bad humours'. Yes, I could refuse, but it would be a tad churlish, yes? We agreed on her offering me a lift every other day ( assuming that she saw me), which meant a lift on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Today, Monday, she stopped because it 'looked like it was going to rain and you don't have a raincoat'. Actually, I did have one in my backpack, and in the event it didn't rain. People are nice in Fiji. Lucky I have given up on strawberry cheesecake(and any other type, before somebody makes a rude comment!).
GRP work temporarily suspended this week, firstly because the hull has to dry out after the monsoon-like conditions the last few days, and secondly because John the GRP asked if he could do another job this week. It seemed silly to say no, as he was expecting to have finished my job by now and I wouldn't want him to miss out on work. We're ahead of schedule, so I don't think any problem. Still waiting for the engine serial numbers from Martin so I can order spares, and Arun the Electrickery man wasn't around first thing this morning, but all in all things are going OK. Probably battery-ordering time this week, but I need to talk to 'the man' first to see when is the latest that he would be happy having them. No point having them sitting in the boat doing nothing but gently discharging for a month! Today's task for me will be to go online and try and track down the same model solar regulator.
Good luck to all on Salila, they left on the ARC yesterday.
