I need to renew my UK driving licence. Well, to be exact, exchange my Guernsey driving licence for a UK mainland one. The current one expires in May and I would need a medical to retain some categories on it, whereas mainland licences you don't. Anyway, I sent the application form and the Guernsey licence off whilst I was back in Blighty, but didn't send my passport with it, in case it didn't get back in time before I was due to leave. Anyway, the Guernsey licence was a photo licence, so it should be OK as identification, right? Wrong! Fast forward, I really need to get this done, but I'm a bit wary of sending my passport away whilst I'm in Fiji, and have to renew my visa here in 3 months. Aha, I'll got to the British High Comm and have them certify a copy. Er, no, actually. They don't do that, I have to go to a Commissioner of Oaths. Cheers guys ( the lady behind the counter was utterly charming though, and very apologetic). Luckily, the Commissioner of Oaths that she directed me to doesn't make any charge. If only DHL would take the same approach!
Battery ordering time, except Jacob is not in the office today. Tomorrow then.
Below, the Hop Hing bigger than a McDogburger Whopper bun, breakfast bun. That and the mug of tea F$2.60, delicious, now that I've got them to make the tea UK style, i.e. a splash of milk, not half and half, Fiji style.
