As I write thios, at 1600UTC we have 33 miles to run to Porto Santo. After an 'iffy' morning weather-wise it's now blue skies weith scattered clouds, even bluer water and a 'trade wind' of NE F5 with a fairly even swell. Had a coup[le of hours flying twin headsails and surfed up to 10 kts on a couple of occasions, but the autohelm wasn't coping too well and I could get better speeds steering by hand. Got a bit tiresome in the end, and after a magnificent gennaker-wrap when I ambitiously tried to gybe both headsails simultaneously, i.e. swap sides, I gave this up as a bad idea and am now running under gennaker only, still making 6 -6.5kts over the ground. ETA looks like 2300 local tonight.
