A couple of days ago Henning (Smiley) dropped by the club, on a visit from his new base 'in the west'. Good to see him again and a couple of beers were sunk! Anyway, he volunteered to go up the mast and make an assessment for me, so the next day.......
Berloody Hell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I used to be able to hoike somebody up the mast without too much trouble, what happened?
OK, the winches need servicing and the halyards hadn't been moved for a while but crikey Guv'nor, lack of upper body strength or what"!
I only managed to get him up to the second set of spreaders before he shouted down that he'd be stuck if I keeled over, so could he come down please? Not too much damage. One missing bolt in the forward spreader assembly and one of the arms has been bent. No apparent damage to the standing rigging which is good news. Next time I'll borrow Peter the German's climber system! I still have to check out the masthead lights.

Todays job is to lower the wind generator assembly. I haven't seen Arun the Electrik this week, but I'm hoping he's mantling the electric switch panel. A replacement from the UK would be £900, which is totally out of the question right now. The fridge 'should' be ready this week (oh yeah, along with the anchor windlass no doubt?), but John the GRP has made up a battery box and put a final coat of expoxy on the fridge cabinet, which has now cured nicely.
Butto will be working for me next week which will be £50 well spent, having him working encourasges me to get my own arse in gear, which is needed as the launch 'wishline' is looming. Will the boat go in on April 7th? Still possible, but I haven't priced a crane yet.  Of course there'll still be a lot of cosmetic work to do once I'm afloat. As always, funds running low so the thing is to prioritise what needs to be done as opposed to what would be nice to do. No recent news on the engines but no reported problems either so I'm choosing to think all is progressing towards getting them back in the boat by the end of the month. That will be a real milestone!

For those of you who know her, Rhoda ('The Wicked Stepmother') has had a new shoulder fitted, but is back home now and progressing well. She's had a lot of pain over the last year and hopefully the 'replacement unit' will do the trick!
