Left Puerto de Naos on the 27th (sept) heading southwest along the coast, maybe making for Papagayo (at the southern end of Lanzarotte) or even Correlejo on Fuerteventura. In the event there was no wind to start with, then it gradually came out of the WSW, so Papagayo was a lee shore and I didn't feel like motoring for another 8 nm to Correlejo, so turned round and had a reasonable headsail run back to Playa Quemada (after sorting out a magnificent Gennaker wrap!!!).
I had visited Playa Quemada in the hire car and it is a pleasant anchorage, but a real one-horse town (we saw the horse from the hire car). There is a decent-looking cafe/bar but having paid for the flight & hire car I'm trying to keep 'the out-goings' down.
Yesterday was a minor 'make & mend' day. The wiring on the windlass was investigated and found to be very loose indeed, as were the bolts holding the windlass to the deck! Obviously been like that since they had been fitted as the attachment bolts had locking nuts and the loose wiring was behind a detachable panel on the windlass itself. Quality control (or lack of) again. I suppose unless you buy something like a Halberg Rassey you're going to get these problems. Anyway, weather is fine (sorry about that) and I'm booked into the marina at Puerto Calero on the 1st. Hope to see a few people on my quick visit back.
