After a couple of weeks of basically fiddling around and getting nowhere rapidly, I finally decided to bite the financial bullet and get a diesel mechanic in to fix my engine problems.

Jonathan turned up when he said he would and after listening to the symptoms and what I had been doing to cure the problem just smiled. I'm apparently not the only boat to have had this problem recently and inevitably the problem is either the injectors or the injector pump. Despite using a Baja filter, pre-filter and engine filter 'bits' find their way through and knacker the injectors and/or pump. He even had a selection of photos on his IPhone to prove it.

Puncturing the myth of Malaysia being a cheap place to get work done, removing the pump and injectors, getting them mantled and putting them back in will come to around £250. No doubt this is why Jonathan has an IPhone. The taking out and putting back is actually a fairly minor part of the cost and of course if spare parts are needed.....

Oh well, it's only money and luckily I have, or rather had, a bit at the moment due to living cheaply, modest book sales and an early Christmas present!. Not so easy come but bloody easy go! Now I just have to find some suitable glue for the dingy, obtain an oil-extractor pump and I'll be back in business and able to get the show on the road. Where the road will lead is anybody's guess but another couple of weeks should see me en-route to somewhere.

will know that I have a special offer on at the moment on 'The Kaieteur Caper', the latest Karno adventure. The response has been, well, underwhelming. Plans for a celebratory chocolate bar have been put on hold although the offer has a day to run.
